Preserving Delta County's Rural EconomyJoin us for “Good Food, Responsible Agriculture and Preserving Our Rural Economy in Delta County”, on February 13 at 6:30 pm in Memorial Hall in Hotchkiss (175 N 1st St).

This evening of information and discussion will feature Dr. John Ikerd, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri as well as serving on the board of the Socially Responsible Agricultural Project.  He will speak about the economic and environmental benefits of family-scaled farming and ranching, and address the long term negative impacts of industrial animal agriculture.

Also participating as panelists will be: Dr. Frank Stonaker, farmer and former CSU Professor of Horticulture (Specialty Crops); Scott Horner, farmer at Small Potatoes Farm in Paonia; and Paolo Bacigalupi, award-winning author.

This educational forum is co-sponsored by the Valley Organic Growers Association, Western Slope Conservation Center, the Socially Responsible Agricultural Project and WCC.
