Minimum wage heading to the Nov ballot

We met our first goal - and now we’re in for the WIN to raise the minimum wage in November

Congrats and thanks to WCC members who gathered 1,000+ signatures!

Ready, set, gather! Sabrina King, Marguerite McCormick, Kathryn Christian, Donna Mae Donahue, Joan Axthelm, Sarah Bradburn (along with Thomas Acker, not pictured) gathered signatures at the Grand Junction Downtown Farmers Market on June 30

As the Western Slope’s voice for social, economic and environmental justice, we’re super proud of our WCC members who carried petitions for the past few months in support of a ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2020.

And we’re super stoked that, thanks to a strong statewide signature-gathering effort, Initiative 101 now “appears to be a certainty for the November ballot”!

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who carried petitions. We’ve got our first win – and now we’re thinking about how to get our big win in November.

In September and October, we want to be out in the community, talking to voters about raising the wage, and getting people to commit to voting “YES” in November. It’s going to be a fun campaign, and we want you to be a part of it.

There are lots of ways to help. Data entry, making phone calls, knocking doors, tabling at festivals and events, social media – however you can help, we want you and your skills!

Thank you for all the support you’ve given to this campaign already, and we’re looking forward to sending another WIN email after the November vote. Together, we’ll make it happen!
